Terms of Service

Last updated: June 14, 2026

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a contract between you and Bikepackia ("Bikepackia", "we", "us"). They govern your access to and use of the Bikepackia website, route planner, and related services (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully.

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for that organisation. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Service.

The service

Bikepackia helps you plan multi-day bikepacking trips. You describe a trip in plain language, and the Service drafts a route, splits it into day stages, and pins points of interest along the way.

The route suggestions are AI-assisted and generated for convenience only. They are not guaranteed to be safe, legal, accurate, current, or suitable for you, your equipment, or the conditions on the ground. The AI does not create route geometry — it interprets your requirements. Route geometry comes from third-party routing providers (such as BRouter) or deterministic fallbacks, and inherits the limitations of that underlying map and routing data.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

Accounts

You can use much of the Service anonymously. Some features — saving routes, preferences, and the credit wallet — require an account. Authentication is provided by our identity partner, Clerk.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use. The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date.

Credits, plans & billing

Some features consume credits from a credit wallet tied to your account. Paid plans and credit purchases are processed by our payment partner, Stripe; we do not store your full card details.

Prices, plan inclusions, and credit costs may change. Where required by law, we will give you notice of material changes before they take effect. Unless stated otherwise at the point of purchase, or required by applicable consumer law, credit purchases and subscription fees are non-refundable once the credits are issued or the billing period has begun. Taxes may apply depending on your location.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law or regulation.
  • Plan, encourage, or facilitate trespass, riding on prohibited land, or any other illegal activity.
  • Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or circumvent the rate limits or security of the Service.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its output except as expressly permitted.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or that you do not have the right to share.

Your route content & the license you grant us

You retain ownership of the briefs, route data, coordinates, notes, and other content you submit ("Your Content").

To operate the Service, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, reproduce, and transmit Your Content for the sole purpose of providing and improving the Service to you — for example, generating routes, saving them to your account, and exporting GPX files. This licence ends when you delete Your Content or close your account, except for copies retained as required by law or held in routine backups for a limited period.

Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and original content, is owned by Bikepackia or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service; they do not transfer any ownership to you.

"Bikepackia" and associated logos are our marks. You may not use them without our prior written permission.

Third-party map & routing data and attribution

The Service relies on third-party map, elevation, and routing data, including OpenStreetMap data and routing providers such as BRouter. That data is provided by its respective owners under their own licences and terms.

You agree to comply with any attribution requirements and usage restrictions of those providers. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or currency of third-party data, and we are not responsible for it.

Safety disclaimer — ride at your own risk

Bikepacking is inherently risky. You ride at your own risk. Routes suggested by the Service may be inaccurate, out of date, impassable, unsafe, or illegal to ride.

Before and during any ride, you are solely responsible for verifying every route against current real-world conditions: traffic and road laws, access rights and private land, trail and surface conditions, closures, weather, daylight, your fitness, and your equipment. Do not rely on the Service for navigation in an emergency.

A generated route is a suggestion, not an instruction or a guarantee of safety. Always carry appropriate navigation, communication, and safety equipment, and use your own judgement. If a route looks wrong, unsafe, or illegal, do not ride it.

Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any route, stage, or point of interest is accurate, safe, legal, or fit for any particular purpose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you, and you may have rights that these Terms cannot override.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bikepackia and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, injury, or harm, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or any route it suggests.

To the extent liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred euros (€100). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bikepackia and its suppliers from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your Content, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of France will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, except where applicable mandatory consumer law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your place of residence.
